Daily Logs (Dailies)

Daily Logs (Dailies) - Construxion Pro User Guide

Daily logs are field reports filled out at the end of each workday. They record who worked, what they did, weather conditions, equipment used, and any issues encountered. Accessible to Owner, Manager, Administrative, and Foreman roles.

Accessing Daily Logs

Daily logs appear on the Daily Logs tab (labeled "Dailies") within each job. The tab's visibility is controlled by a company-level setting:

  • Off — Dailies tab never shown
  • On (Default On) — Shown on all jobs unless disabled per-job
  • On (Default Off) — Hidden unless enabled per-job

Creating a Daily Log

  1. Go to a job's Dailies tab
  2. Click New Daily Log or select a date
  3. The daily log editor opens as a side sheet (full-screen panel on desktop, bottom sheet on mobile)

There is one daily log per job per day — you can't create duplicates for the same date.

Copy from Previous

When creating a new log, you can Copy from Previous Log to pre-fill the crew roster, tasks, trucking, subcontractors, and equipment from the last daily log. This copies the structure but not day-specific values (times, hours, quantities).

Daily Log Sections

Weather

Weather fields include high/low temperature, conditions, and wind.

Auto-fetch: Click the weather button to automatically pull weather data from the Open-Meteo API using the job's coordinates. The data source is tracked:

  • auto — Fetched automatically
  • manual — Entered by hand
  • auto_modified — Fetched then manually adjusted

Work Performed

Tag which job tasks were worked on during the day, and record each task's production quantities:

  1. Click Add Task to open the task picker
  2. Select tasks from the job's task list (inspections are excluded — they have their own section)
  3. Add "Other Work" entries for tasks not in the system (free-text)
  4. Use Additional Notes for general observations
  5. Use Problems / Issues to flag anything that went wrong

Production quantities: Each tagged task can carry the day's measured quantities, using the same measurement types and templates as the task itself — you only enter the dimensions the type needs, and totals and units calculate automatically.

  • Quantities entered here also appear on the task as draft measurements and stay in sync while in draft
  • A suggestions strip offers one-tap add for measurements recorded on the job's tasks around the log's date
  • Each row shows its measurement status — Unsubmitted, Pending, Approved, or Rejected — matching the task panel
  • Quantities on "Other Work" entries (no linked task) stay on the log only and are not billable until linked to a task
  • Recording new work on a completed task prompts you to reopen it

Labor

Record employee hours for the day. Each person gets a card that can hold multiple time records — for example, "Laborer 8–12, then Operator 12–2 on the excavator":

  1. Click Add Employee or Add from Crews (lists every company crew, with crews assigned to this job on the log's date first and their members pre-checked)
  2. For each person, set Lunch (deducted from hours) and one or more time records with:
    • Position — Dropdown of company-configured position types (e.g., Operator, Laborer, Flagger)
    • Time In / Time Out — Start and end times
    • Hours — Auto-calculated from times, or manual entry
    • Equipment Operated — List of equipment used (links to company equipment; "Save to company equipment" option for new items)

Position Types: These are company-configurable. The first time you use the labor section, default positions are seeded. Manage them in the daily log settings.

Required details: By default, a log can't be submitted until every labor record has a position and its time (either Time In/Out or total hours). The submit flow lists exactly who still needs what. Companies that don't track this can turn it off in Settings → Jobs → Daily Logs.

Inspections

Record inspections performed on the job:

  • Shows scheduled inspection items for the date in a blue banner
  • Inspector — Autocomplete from the company's inspector list; "Save as inspector" option for new entries
  • Links to inspection items from the job's schedule

Trucking

Record trucking activity:

  • Driver/truck name
  • Type of truck
  • Hours
  • Material hauled
  • Hauled from / hauled to

Subcontractors

Record which subcontractors were on site:

  • Select from company's subcontractor list
  • Add notes per subcontractor

Rental Equipment

Record any rented equipment used:

  • Equipment description
  • Vendor/company
  • Hours used

End-of-Day Checklist

If your company has set up an end-of-day checklist (Settings → Jobs → Daily Logs), it appears as a section on the draft log. Foremen can check items off while still on site — each check records who confirmed it and when — and add an optional note to any item.

  • Required items must be checked before the log can be submitted
  • Advisory items can be skipped (a note explaining why is encouraged)
  • Anything still unconfirmed when you hit Submit comes up one more time in a confirmation step
  • The built-in "Labor time & positions complete" item checks itself against the Labor section and can be set to Required, Advisory, or Off

After submission, the recorded answers show read-only on the log and print on the PDF.

Status Workflow

Daily logs follow a three-step status workflow:

StatusWho Can EditHow to Advance
DraftAnyone with dailies accessClick Submit
SubmittedOnly Owner and ManagerClick Approve
ApprovedNo one (locked)Must Revert to Draft first (with confirmation dialog)
  • Foremen typically create and submit logs
  • Managers review and approve
  • Reverting an approved log back to draft requires confirmation, since it unlocks all fields for editing

Submit and approve gates

A log can only advance when its contents have caught up:

  • Submitting runs the end-of-day checklist first (required items and complete labor details must be satisfied), then walks you through Review & Submit for any Unsubmitted measurements on the log — each must be submitted or removed from the log first
  • Approving requires every measurement on the log to be approved. The approve action opens the measurement approval workflow scoped to the log's pending items; rejecting a measurement there also removes it from the log
  • Reverting an approved log unlocks its fields, except rows whose measurements are already submitted or approved — those stay locked (a rejection is the only way a submitted measurement moves backward)

PDF Export

Daily logs can be exported to PDF from the side sheet. The PDF includes:

  • Company branding — Logo, accent color, company address
  • All sections formatted with tables, including production quantities with dimensions, units, and totals under Work Performed, the end-of-day checklist answers, and Equipment Used
  • Signature line on the last page
  • Page numbers and accent bar
  • A DRAFT watermark on logs exported before submission
  • An optional "Submitted at" stamp — check the box when exporting to print the exact date and time the log was submitted, useful when a hard copy needs to prove it wasn't edited after the fact

Auto-Save

Fields save automatically on blur (when you click away from a field). Child sections (labor entries, trucking records, etc.) use debounced batch saves to avoid excessive API calls.
